I came back just a few days ago!
I went to Ankara on 20th, got my visa for UK. On 21th, i was on the way of London! Plane trip took 4 hours in a bad plane. I wasn't even able to move, it was tiring. When i arrived to London, i went to camp side by 2 trains and 1 metro. And all the way long, i was totally alone!
I arrived to camp side afternoon, i set my tent up and registered to be a JBT.
JBT= Jamboree Built Team. We were gonna build the camp side etc. Actually this thing started on 1st july, but i couldn't go before. There were only 6 days till the camp starts and i wasn't allowed to stay in camp side after that. I should have been worked that time, but guess what i did!! Nothing!! :D I was sleeping, going to Chelmsford (the nearest town), eating lunch/breakfast/dinner for many times, hanging around etc.. It was so fun!:D
At nights, we were getting beer and sitting in bar, chatting to people..
In Türkiye, we have stores like "Everything is 1 Lira". And they usually sell junk. We saw this in England too!!! There is a store named Poundland and everything's 1 pound! But there were no junk! All goods were quality! I bought iPod accessories for 1 pound! They cost a fortune here!
*Inside of the Poundland* ................... *Outside of the Poundland*I was missing "some people" when i was there. So, i wanted to call "a friend". In camp side, to call a person, you should first buy a telephone card. Then you should get in the queque and wait. After waiting, you should call the number in that rush. I did so. I called a friend that i liked very much. And we talked like:
- Hi, how are you? Hello??? I can't hear you!!
- I am cycling now.
- Stop cycling then!! Is it more important than me? Hello??? Are you there?
- Yes i'm here, i'm cycling.
- Fuck off! I'm calling you from the other side of the world and you don't bother to stop cycling!
So, i got very angry! Can you believe these kinda people???!!
One night, we were watching a concert in camp side with my dear Slovenian friend Tina. You know i love alcohol. So, i bought a bottle of vodka. It was more fruit juice :P After that, I drank beer and wine nonstop. I kept watching the concert. I was feeling quite sobber! But when i got to my tent, i "fell down" inside! It was an awesome feeling! I was able to think, but my body was numb...
Then 27th of July came,, the day we should have left. But we didn't leave the camp side! we, poor JBTs, were hiding from big masters!:D In order to have meal, we were entering from exit of the restaurant! :D
We could secretly watch opening ceremony in main camp. Prince William was also invited for the ceremony.
............................. *Me in heaven!!! Guess why? :D*
On the way of returning to our camp side, stewards wanted to see our "Staff ID's". but we JBT's didn't have it. So, we pretended like:
- What? We no speak English??!
And he shouted us:
- Do NOT forget your ID cards again! KEEP them with you!!
After this humiliating experince, i was feeling like everybody was looking at my JBT card and ready to kick my ass out of the camp!
In the last days, i met wonderful friends, i met my old friends from other camps. They are all amazing! They haven't changed mush from the last time i saw them. For example Silvia. Even her hair style is same! :) Also, her impressing and strong voice tone stays same =)
Especially Petra from Slovakia.. She is amazing and very clever! We met her in Eurojam-2005 and she still remembers every single thing i told her! She is also very nice. She did me many favors ;) I owe her a very big "thank you" for everything :)
*Last night of me. Me-Mustafa-Petra-A Belgian Girl-Osman, enjoying Nargile! :D*
On 30th July, i left the camp side sadly.
*Petra accompanies me to the end of the camp for me..*
During the 30th July, i discovered London alone! It was so fun! Now i know every part of London! :)
In London, i first left my backpack to locker in Kings Cross train station. Then i went to shopping in Picadilly Circus. After there,,, guess what i did!!!
I went to Hammersmith Apollo foooor....... SCORPIONS concert!
I bought my tickets from there. I was sitting in balcony, first line. They mostly played from the last album, so i didn't know most of the songs. The atmosphere was awesome. Most of the audience was older than me, about 40-50 and they were in band t-shirts, with long hair. And there i decided to be like them when i get older. Still headbanging! \m/
When i was in the queque of concert, i remember, an old man behind me said:
- The last time i watched them was, 25 years ago..
Isn't this amazing?
*Scorpions on the stage!*Legendery Scorpions played nonstop about 3 hours till 11. I came back to Kings Cross to get my luggage back on 11.30. But there was a surprise waiting for me. It was closed on 11 pm! But my plane was for at 4 am!!!
So, i had to wait there or 3 hours to figure out what to do. Station staff really helped me much. The bad thing is, i had to pay 50 pounds extra to get my luggage at night! And +12 pounds for the left luggage payment! It was horrible!
I got on a train to go to Luton Airport. There was an old man infront of me. He told me to wake him up when we get to Luton. I said ok. But i was so sleepy, so i couldn't resist anymore..
After 40 mins or so, the old man waked me up and said; "We're in Luton." You can't even guess how it embarassing was!!!!!!!!
When i got to airport, there was another bad surprise waiting for me! Check-in worker looked at my ticket and said "This ticket is for 31th August, not for July!" Gooosh, i was wondering why it was that cheap though!
So, i had to pay 150 MORE pounds to change it to 31th July!
31th July was probably one of my worst days. I arrived to İstanbul at 12 am, waited till 10 pm for another plane ot Adana! Everything was damn expensive in the airport, but i was starving, so i had to buy a Fanta and a cracker for 2€!!
